Knowledge Is Power
In the last few weeks, I don’t think I’ve spoken to anyone who hasn’t had to deviate somewhat from their usual routine.
Since lockdown began we’ve seen shifts in our day-to-day habits, from no longer going to the gym or out for a meal with friends and a drink with colleagues after work on a Friday is a distant memory.
It’s not just our patterns and behaviours are changing either, search trends and behaviour back this up. We’ve seen video conferencing software companies reach record highs in terms of users and revenues, and businesses have had to quickly adapt to remote working and collaboration.
For me personally the shift in routine has freed up some of my schedule to spend more time absorbing content, learning and developing through online courses.
In particular, I have spent some time listening to a variety of business podcasts. There are so many out there it can become overwhelming when scrolling through the options, which has brought me onto putting together this brief round-up of the ones I’ve been tuning to over the last few weeks.
So to kick things off, the first on my list is…
The Tim Ferriss Show
This one has been referred to as the #1 business podcast on all of Apple Podcasts and the first business & interview podcast to pass 100,000,000 downloads.
There have been over 300 guests appearing on the show since recording began and these include Neil Gaiman, Tony Robbins, Maria Sharapova and Rick Rubin. In each episode, Tim deconstructs world-class performers from a variety of areas like investing, sports, business, art, etc to find the tactics, tools, and routines they use. This includes favourite books, morning routines, exercise habits, time-management tricks, and a lot more.
The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett
This particular podcast is a more recent discovery of mine having tuned in recently to a live mentoring session that Steven Bartlett hosted. Luckily the podcast was mentioned during the session as I wasn’t aware of it previously, I listened to episode 49, where Steven interviews Dame Stephanie Shirley – also known as Steve. She arrived in the UK at 6 years old having fled her home because of the Holocaust. She went on to set up a software company which she built from the ground up and at the point of sale was worth £2.3bn.
In each episode, Steven shares his personal diary with his listeners, taking us behind the scenes of his company Social Chain and giving us an insight into his life and thoughts.
Girlboss Radio with Sophia Amoruso
Each week on Girlboss Radio, you’ll hear honest conversations with trailblazing women. These women go into detail on what it takes to build a successful career or grow a business with staying power while living life on their own terms and navigating personal and professional curveballs.
You can expect hilarious, vulnerable and useful conversations that humanize the known, champion the unknown and laugh a little at the absurdity of life. Hosted by Sophia Amoruso, CEO and founder of Girlboss and Neha Gandhi, editor in chief and COO of Girlboss.
Masters of Scale
Masters of Scale is hosted by LinkedIn co-founder and Greylock Partner Reid Hoffman, in each episode he sets out to describe and prove theories that explain how great entrepreneurs take their companies from zero to a gazillion.
Each episode begins with a clever tale that sets the stage for Reid to reveal a theory he has about scaling. It then unfolds like a detective story as he explores the idea with some of the most iconic masters of scale on the planet such as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Evite’s Selina Tobaccowalla, and AirBnB’s Brian Chesky.
At the end of each episode, we come full circle to where we started – a notion, theory, or hunch that starts to make a lot of sense. This more than just an interview show, this is a genre-defining series on how to think boldly and differently about the world.
The GaryVee Audio Experience
With over 300 episodes to choose from, the GaryVee audio experience is one of the more well-known podcasts. The show is hosted by Gary Vaynerchuk, you’ll find a mixture of #AskGaryVee video series, keynote speeches on marketing and business, and clips from his weekly video series WEEKLYVEE.

The Daily Stoic
This is a daily podcast packed full of wisdom. And for those of you that may prefer to listen to an audiobook over a podcast, check out the below recommendation I was given by a colleague.
Stacey Dooley – Front Line Woman Fight Back
Audiobook
Purchase your copy here
In her first audiobook, On the Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back, Stacey talks about her encounters with the brave and wonderful women she met through her documentation series, using their experiences to explore issues at the centre of female experience.
From gender equality and domestic violence to sex trafficking and sexual identity, Stacey weaves these stories and encounters together in an exploration of what it is to be women in the world today.
Her casual tone and chatty way of speaking make the difficult issues she is talking about all the more stark, awful and relevant. She is not preaching – she is just telling you what she thinks and believes.
